The standard we follow

The Town aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That is the standard the U.S. Department of Justice has adopted for state and local government websites under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

This website partially conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Most of it meets the standard, but some content, described below, does not yet.

What the Town has done

  • The website was designed and built to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, with a clear heading structure, a “skip to content” link, visible keyboard focus, labeled form fields, and text that can be enlarged to 200 percent.
  • Before each update, the website’s main pages and its search results are checked with automated accessibility tests for WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 Level AA.
  • In September 2026, the site was reviewed by hand for keyboard use, focus visibility, color contrast, and page structure, and the problems found are being fixed.
  • When a document is posted, the website checks whether it is a scanned image that a screen reader cannot read, so the Town can fix it.

Known limitations

  • Some PDF documents, especially agendas, minutes, and notices that were scanned from paper, cannot be read by a screen reader. Where the Town has posted a text version, a “Read the text version” link appears beside the file. For any other document, ask the Town Clerk and the Town will provide it in a format you can use.
  • The history video on the History page plays from YouTube, which offers only automatic captions. A full transcript is on the page with it.
  • Older records that are not on the website are available from the Town Clerk in an accessible format on request.
  • Other organizations’ websites, such as Palm Beach County and State of Florida agencies, are linked from this site but are not run by the Town. If one of them prevents you from getting a Town service, contact the Town Clerk.
